Applikon Biotechnology is a privately owned Dutch company supplying on-line process analyzers and bioreactor systems for both research and production use. Starting in 1973, Applikon has grown from a small company supplying laboratory instrumentation to a worldwide enterprise supplying a diverse line of bioreactor systems and turn-key projects. Applikon’s latest technologies include the icontrol; an industrial bioreactor controller. Traditionally, PLC controllers have been restricted to multi-level control of reactors or entire plants. While the advantages of PLC’s are equally valid within research / process development / small-scale production, they have been considered too complicated for these applications. Applikon’s icontrol is a PLC developed specifically for bioreactors. An intuitive touch-screen talks the operator pictorially through the process and only the functionality required for the operator’s process appears. The icontol can operate on Siemens, Delta V or Allen Bradley platforms, and can control single or multiple Applikon or party bioreactors, while communicating with peripheral equipment and SCADA systems. |
