Study Tours
Wednesday 15th October
The organizers of the Biofuels Expo are running study tours to a prototype containerized pellet factory located 45 minutes drive from the Expo, on 15th October 2008 as part of our focus on Wood Energy.
The study tour will be of particular interest to any potential pellet feedstock producers (in forestry, agriculture or wood processing) with between 10,000 and 20,000 tonnes of raw biomass available per year.
The factory will specifically show how low net calorific value, high moisture content short rotation coppice chips worth less than £20/tonne can be transformed efficiently to produce high value industrial grade finished wood pellets. These have a moisture content of less than 8% and a net calorific value of up to 18GJ/tonne. The factory can also produce top quality white pellets suitable for domestic heating when fed with debarked sawmill waste.
It is anticipated that short rotation willow coppice planting and harvesting machinery will be on show as well as delegates being able to see the crop growing, and meet willow coppice experts during the tour.
The tour is part of the bioenergy exhibits at this years Biofuels Expo taking place at the Newark Showground on 15 & 16 October 2008.
A Wood/Pellet Energy conference is also taking place at the Expo on the 16th October.
Places are limited for both the conference and the tours, so book early to avoid disappointment.
